NOTE: We were pleased to welcome a lot of new guests into the lodge seances during 2011 but now need to take a break.   Those that have sat with us previously are welcome to apply to attend, but unfamiliar sitters are asked kindly to wait until after Easter, when we will again consider offering seats to new guests. The Bristol Spirit Lodge Circle offers guest seats, free of charge, within some of the seances held. Guests should be aware that the Bristol Spirit Lodge is a small private home circle, does not hold public events, and attendence is by invitation only. Basically, we are a group of like-minded people who meet together to share a genuine interest. The Bristol Spirit Lodge was founded as an experimental project, with the intent to support the stable development and demonstration of Physical Mediumship. Although progress has been made, each seance remains an experiment and no particular outcome can be expected or assumed.

What may happen during a seance held in the lodge?
Well, to start with, forget 'Most Haunted'!   Sometimes we sit quietly with very little evidential phenomena becoming displayed, although the environment of the Lodge always offers a welcome to those that sit.

Within most seances transfiguration of the medium's physical appearance now occurs. Transfiguration, seen in clear red lighting conditions, may be of subliminal appearance, or a dramatic demonstration that is clearly witnessed by all those present. At other times we sit within total blackout conditions and invite the demonstration of physical phenomena, never knowing whether in fact this will occur, but enjoying the sensations of high energy nevertheless. Direct voice phenomena is currently being demonstrated in some seances.

Note: Inexperienced sitters will not be seated in the blackout as we feel they are likely to gain most benefit from the seance experience by sitting in lit conditions.

Do we keep records for evidential or evaluation purposes? Yes. For the past three years most seances held within the Lodge have been recorded using an Olympus digital voice recorder VN-2100PC.  Since 2009 some seances were visually recorded using a Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder. This camera has more recently been updated and during 2011 is to be used more regularly. Any such recordings are made for evaluation purposes only and will only be published when considered of potential interest to others. It is important that guests realise that all such recordings remain the property of the Bristol Spirit Lodge Circle and that Chris Di Nucci, the founder, ultimately retains copyright.

Are there any behavioural expectations for guests?
Yes. The Lodge is a home venue. We offer respect to our invited guests, and exchange respect with those within the spirit world that are invited to communicate with us. Should there be any disruptive element, any rudeness or challenging behaviour on either side, the seance will be closed immediately and the perpetrator of the disruption will be asked to leave the lodge and also Chris's home.

Are there any seance rules?
Yes. All circles are different. Chris will explain the details of how we work with experimentation here in the lodge when you meet with her before attending a seance.

NOTE: Unfortunately we are unable to offer seance seats to those that are grieving the loss of a loved one. Nor are we able to offer 'psychic readings' to anyone seeking advice.  Nor do we offer predictions for the future. Nor do we set out to put anyone in touch with deceased relatives and friends, although in seance conditions this might occur. Finally we do not claim to offer absolute proof of continuing consciousness after physical death.

FINALLY: We are not affiliated to the Spiritualist church. Circle members privately hold their own beliefs, or otherwise. We know that just as everyone is born into this world so everyone passes from it. Genuine curiosity around the subject of birth and death we feel to be natural and is felt by all, regardless of their religious faith.

The Bristol Spirit Lodge Circle is a private home circle shared by like-minded people who share a specific interest. All regular seances are held free of charge and neither sitter's, circle leader, or medium's receive any payment.

* Occasionally a seance held with a visiting medium holds the expectation of a donation.
